2026 Casting call

Fluid Movement is seeking land actors to bring the drama to our annual synchronized swimming ballet. This year’s show is Candy Land of Pleasant Living: A Very Baltimore Water Ballet (CLoPL). CLoPL is a journey into a familiar childhood game but with a (lemon) twist. Our cast will interact with iconic Charm City treats in a battle of sweet vs. savory. Come along as we clash with some very punny lines and see who prevails. Acting roles take place on dry land, so no swimming experience is necessary.  However, since our performances are held outside, land actors are welcome to enjoy the pools during down time without mic packs!

Actors are required to attend Tech Day (July 18th from 12 - 5 PM) with additional tech rehearsals leading up to the shows. Show days will be July 25 and 26 at Riverside Park Pool and August 1 and 2 at Clifton Park Pool. A typical show day is 2 -9 PM. This is a volunteer/unpaid position.

Casting is open for the roles listed below:

  • Lolly - lives in Charm City and loves to show it off. Bubbly, upbeat personality. Definitely the leader of our trio of friends. Adaptable, innovative, creative - but also impatient. Can be any gender.

  • Frostine – lived in the county. Has a bad view of Baltimore and doesn’t like to venture into the city much. Kinda bougie. Starts off as a Negative Nancy and has a big change of heart. Can be any gender.

  • Eleanor - to the point, very matter of fact. Favorite place to hang is Enoch Pratt Library and comes ready with all the facts. Loves a good coffee shop. Agreeable but not a pushover. Can be any gender.

  • Queen Sugar - female presenting actor. Our Sweet Hero, a bit like Glinda. Other worldly, gentle but a good teacher. Can be any gender.

  • Lord Natty Boh - male presenting actor. Has a chip on their shoulder. Despises sweets. A savory kind of guy, looking to impress his girlfriend (Ms. Utz) with his nefarious plot. Over-the-top. Comes with a lot of flair. 

  • Crab Minion #1- Flunky of Lord Natty Boh. This is a non-speaking role but does require holding a sign while on stage and lots of big facial and body expressions. Can be any gender.

  • Crab Minion #2 - Flunky of Lord Natty Boh. This is a non-speaking role but does require lots of big facial and body expressions. Can be any gender.
