2025 Casting call
Fluid Movement is seeking land actors to bring the drama to our annual synchronized swimming ballet. This year’s show is Dive into Banned Books (DIBB): A Water Ballet of Resistance and Joy. DIBB is a comedic look at the timely topics of censorship and active resistance focusing on five banned books. Please come join us resisting and creating JOY!
Acting roles take place on dry land, so no swimming experience is necessary. However since our performances are held outside, land actors are welcome to enjoy the pools during down time and without mic packs!
Actors are required to attend Tech Day (July 19th from 12 - 5 PM) with additional tech rehearsals leading up to the shows. Show days will be July 26 and 27 at Riverside Park Pool and August 2 and 3 at Clifton Park Pool. A typical show day is 2 -9 PM. This is a volunteer/unpaid position.
Casting is open for the roles listed below:
Librarian Readmore - caring, warm librarian and authority figure. This role is open to all ages or genders. Seeking someone larger-than-life that can command a large stage and the attention of three "teenagers"
Ms. Taken - female presenting actor, grumpy, Karen-type PTA parent, but this role is open to all ages. Looking for a big personality that is unafraid to be a pearl-clutching caricature of those caught up in the hysteria of banning books.
Paige Turner - highly intelligent, precocious, bookish "teenager", a bit of a know-it-all but with a deep care for their friends. Interested in this "teenager" being played by someone that is obviously not a teenager. Can be any gender.
Harper - a gender-curious/nonconforming "teenager" that is very shy and fearful of disappointing their parent and their friends. Interested in this "teenager" being played by someone that is obviously not a teenager and has the physicality to play up the shyness on a large stage. Can be any gender.
